Malaysiiaa :).

Colours of Malaysia is a festival that happens every year, it is a celebration of the countries unique diversity of cultures. I love seeing how proud Malaysians are of their country, of which there is so much to be proud of, and to respect. During the festival, there are loads of traditional performances to be seen, colourful parades aswell as arts and crafts. This yearly event brings all the heritage and culture of Malaysians from all states into one spectacular event. In this parade, the Malaysian culture is shown in forms of various arts such as dances, music, clothing designs and crafts. This parade gives the people of Malaysia the opportunity to reconnect experience and enjoy the traditions of other races and religions.

Being an expact I don’t celebrate any festivals that go on around Malaysia, however I do experience them. I like watching my friends when a festival is coming up, they seem to get more excited, whether it is because of the holidays or the actual celebration, I don’t know...but the enjoyment in their eyes makes me happy for them. There are so many opportunities for Malaysia to celebrate their diversity, colours of Malaysia, hari raya, merdeka, and so many others. I think the more celebrations Malaysia has the closer everyone becomes, this is what has made 1Malaysia so effective.

1Malaysia is a campain which was created by the Malaysian Priminster, Minister Najib Tun Razak in September 2008. 1Malaysia was created to unite the people of Malaysia, creating the perfect culture within the society, connecting everyone to each other. 1Malaysia was created in order to provide a place of free speech, giving people the chance to discuss important matters, as a nation. By doing this the nation has the chance to hear different sides of the same story, giving the government a clearer idea of the situation. many people are hoping the 1Malaysia will create more diversity in Malaysia, or atleast keep the diversity that has already been created.

Merdeka is Malaysia’s celebration of its independence. The independence it gained over 50 years ago. During the Merdeka celebrations, malaysian’s will dress in their national dress.

I respect the people who wear these clothes, I think this is mainly because where I am from we have no national dress, or clothes that tell people where we are from. This makes me jealous because not only does Malaysia keep its national dress code, but they also continuously celebrate the olden time traditions, and they do the same thing year after year, with many festivals. I envy Malaysia because of this, as the United Kingdom do not have as many traditions that have been celebrated for decades, and possibly centuries.

Malaysians have so much to be proud of, the development of their country yet their ability to keep traditions alive and strong, the diversity of Malaysia, the food, the industries, and of course the people. It is the people of Malaysia who keep the traditions alive it is up to the people of Malaysia to decide their country’s future, and it is the people who will pass along the traditions and culture to younger generations.
